What kind of barcode do I need for individual units of beer (bottle, can, or keg)? |

A UPC code is required for individual beer bottles, cans, and kegs. UPC codes are the standard 12-digit barcodes that you see on any retail product sold in retail outlets the United States and Canada.

Do I need different UPC codes for different flavors? |
|
| |
Yes. In order for the computer systems of your retailers to know whether the cashier at the register just scanned your dark beer or your wheat beer, the different types/flavors must have a different UPC code. Otherwise, it would not be possible for them to keep proper count of inventory. |

What are the barcode requirements for packages of beer (6-packs, 12-packs, case, etc.)? |

Each package size of beer that a customer would carry to a cash register at your retailer must feature a different UPC code. This permits the cashier to properly ring up a 6-pack vs. a 12-pack vs. a suitcase of beer.

How do I handle half-pallets and complete pallet shipments? |
|
| |
Pallets and half-pallets require 14-digit barcodes called shipping container codes. This code is sometimes referred to as a GTIN-14, SCC-14 or ITF-14. This barcode permits your distributor to properly track pallets as they move through distribution. The code also allows your retailers to properly check-in shipments into inventory as they arrive at the back of their locations.

How do I get my barcodes on my beer? |

Providing the barcode image to your graphic artist and including it in the design of your packaging prior to manufacturing is the easiest and most economical way of getting your barcode on your product.
If your product packaging has already been printed, you will need barcode labels. If you would like to order pre-printed barcode labels, please select this option when ordering your UPC code. If you have already completed your order, then click label printing to order labels. All orders received before 2 p.m. Eastern Time on business days are completed the same day and shipped for free within the continental U.S.
