These codes are used to trace the origin information for your product including but not limited to:

What is a UPN barcode and how does it work? |
|

The UPN (Universal Product Number), a product identifier used to uniquely identify products in the health industry, is a practical and efficient means of managing product data. UPN codes identify pharmaceuticals, medical devices, surgical products, and other health-related items in the supply chain in order to simplify distribution. The UPN code is scanned by the end-user, primarily at retail (point-of-sale), at the cash register, pharmacy, dispensary, etc.
Exporters: If your medical devices or surgical products are exported outside of the USA or Canada, you will require an EAN Code. Contact our representatives for assistance if you require UPN or any other medical barcode format for your target market.
Canadian Clients: It is acceptable to use a standard UPC Code in place of a UPN code if your company does not have a U.S. NDC or NHRIC Number. |

What is a Medical Data Matrix barcode and how does it work? |

The Data Matrix barcode used on products in the health industry, is a means of easily fulfilling the traceability FDA UDI requirement in a very small space This two-dimensional barcode stores the UPN or EAN or UPC (also known as GTIN); depending on whether you are U.S.-based domestic selling, exporting or based outside of North America, or Canadian). The code also stores any one of the following: your product’s manufacturing date, expiration date, lot or batch number, and/or even the product’s serial number.
By scanning this code, anyone in your distribution or regulatory chain can immediately trace critical information about your product.

How do I get my UPN barcode on my product? |

Providing the barcode image to your graphic artist and including it in the design of your packaging prior to printing is the easiest and most economical way of getting your barcode on your product.
If your product has already been produced, you will need barcode labels. If you would like to order pre-printed barcode labels, please select this option when ordering your UPN and Data Matrix. If you have already completed your order, then click label printing to order labels. All orders received before 2 p.m. Eastern Time on business days are completed the same day and shipped for free within the continental U.S. |
